Download the listed model file and dataset files into any folder on your computer. It is important that both the model file and all the dataset files be stored all together in one folder. Then, start Vensim and open the model file (30th.mdl).
If you don't already have Vensim, you will need to download and install Vensim PLE from http://www.vensim.com/venple.html in order to view model structure and behavior.
1. Directions to view model structure:
Upon opening the file, you will see the level/rate structure on your display. To see the equation for any model variable, click on the <Y=x^2> button, and then click on the variable. The equation edit window will appear with the equation for that variable at the top.
2. Directions to view model behavior:
Click on <Control Panel> in the <Windows> pull down menu. A window labeled Control Panel will appear. Click on the <Graphs> tab in the Control Panel window. One or more custom graphs will be listed. To see a specific graph, highlight the graph, then click on the <Display> button at the bottom left of the Control Panel window.
Should you wish to run the model yourself, and produce your own graphs, follow the instructions in the User's Guide available either online in the list of Vensim manuals under the <Help> pull down menu, or as an Acrobat download from http://www.vensim.com/venple.html.
